Module 2

Abstract

- introduction to the game industry
- game design

This module consists of two lectures and a hands-on design-workshop. In the lectures, we will examine problems with justice that arise in on-line communities and discuss the essential elements of game design. These will introduce such features as the player's role, the core mechanics, perspective and interaction models, and narrative. In the afternoon the students will break up into design teams and actually start the design work for a single-player computer game, then discuss how it could be modified into a multi-player game.
